127 HRS - A R Rahman a Genius

It has been while since I blogged. I have been thinking of what to blog on and get my blog active. Mind Said "Why not on the few fav soundtracks from Movie  - "127 HRS" from the musical genius with the nickname Mozzart from Madras (A R Rahman) who I also consider to be my role model (non musical sense).  Immense discipline, Calm, great focus on what he does and strives very hard to get the best out of himself and spreads happiness to others through his music.

Following are my fav sound tracks from Movie - 127 HRS  in no particular order. I have been listening to the tracks for the last 2 weeks they settle me down and hopefully helping me to keep my negative tendencies in check.  Let us move on..

Track 1: IF I Rise

Fantastic use of the new instrument called Harpejii. A R Rahman's musical genius is can be spotted in various stages of the composition and the BGM from Harpejii acts as a canvas and blends all the various instruments that he has used in the track. The songs starts with the awesome BGM and the melting voice of Dido with a few beats from a classical Hindustani instrument called  Jal Tarang (a melodic precurssion intrument), then AR Rahman starts adding to his magical voice few more rhythmic touch with Jal Taraan (digital of course).

Then the song becomes bit more intense with the soft drums in the background (awesome) and Dido is melting voice again.  A R Rahman's composition transends to the unexpected level when at timeline (2:53) the chorus from Kids takes the song to next level with Dido in the background still going on with her business of adding beauty to the song. In all this the BGM from Harpejii still stays as the canvas for the whole song though it is kind of muted becoz of other instruments in use. Observing closely (Listen to time line 3:53 the BGM da da tum tum tum) gets priority and keeps going on till the track is over just brilliant.

I highly recommend this song for any one wants to seek peace and calmness through music.

This song was nominated for Academy Award in the Best Original Song Cateogry it is a shame that A R Rahman could not win it. However, the category was won by  one other Legend Randy Newman for "We Belong together" in Toy Story 3.

Enough of my ranting... let us listen to the track.

A R Rahman playing Harpejii at Oscars 2010.

Track 2: Touch of Sun.

In this track Rahman has Harpejii in all possible ways. What a Genius!!! This sound track begins with some natural sound from the Canynon and then Harpejii starts quitely. This track gives so much peace to mind when you listen to it. I have been following Harpejii on youtube(from time to time) for the past few years since 2009. The Instrument was invented by Tim Meeks in 2007.

Let us listen to the track

Track 3: The Canyon.

This is another fantastic track. Begins with Flute and then supported by Violin and piano. This has the touch from the Bollywood movie called "Kisna" f the masterpieces from A R Rahman himself.  BTW, he quitely  touches on the If I Rise lyrics through the violin that you can hear through the track. This track has also in my view give peace to the mind.

Let us listen to the track.

If were to be re-incarnated, I wish to be born as a farmer / musician / chef in my next life. Hopefully, I will get to understand the substance even more clearly.

Closing this blog now.

What Who is Chandrashekara saraswathi swamigal ?

This incident probably is something that I will not forget in my life for ever.

29.Jan.2010.  We were coming back to sydney from Chennai after a great trip to India.

The flight was delayed by 50 mins so was going through the shops at the Airport and I was excited to see the 2 book shops both were same but had the names book shop 1 and shop 2. When I was shopping in chennai we were eagerly looking for the book Voice of God (Kadavulzhin Kural) a collection of preachings from Chandrashekara Saraswathi Swamigal.

I went into shop 1 asked for the book.  The guy with a strong Telugu accent said "taamil booka saaru shop 2 villu checku". Then I went into shop2 browsed for the book unable to find it went for the help of the shop assistant in tamil. " Sir entha voice of god booke erruakaa athu thaan Kadavulhin kural booku erruka sir".
Then the shop assistant said "Athu enna Management booka sira" ? I was thinking to myself May be this guy thinks that i am one of those peter mamas and I told him " Illa sir athu vanthu Chandrashekara saraswathi swamigala loda preaching collections". the shop assistant replied "What Who is Chandrashekara saraswathi swamigal ? " I was awestruck by this. The guy was in his Mid 40s and had a name tagged which said "Venkatesan" :) :) :).

What who My Goodness.

India Trip 2010 Tripoo Trip.

India Trip 2010 Tripoo Trip.

Trip to India during last month was probably the best we have had so far.
The trip was not confirmed till 4th Jan.(Doctors visit).
I was disappointed with Singapore Airlines intially ( first time ever in the last 7 yrs for food) but was ok considering the service is always outstanding (I cannot stand crap food).

Missed subway in India.
Missed Poorni's cooking.

First time since starting my career I did not logon or vpn in to work for 15 continous days.(Record Break) Work did follow me in the form of a call on one of the days but it was alright. Those adernalin rushes keeps me going.

Enjoyed every moment in Kerala.
Aishu's Wedding was an amazing experience. Food was brilliant every single time all of them sat to eat.

AWE STRUCK by the arrivals section in the domestic terminal at chennai.
Unsure as when will the international terminal improve. The escalator did not work when we were coming back. ( Poor Poorni had to climb close to 50 stairs with the big tummy). Opps..... Intersting enough poorni did not complain.(suprise surprise)!!!

Enjoyed the stay in Chennai. No More Tnagar for Shopping only Mylapore to my advantage there is also a HSB there haha.. Poorni's Seemandham went on well and was very grand. Poorni Enjoyed it more than myself. We met a lot of cousins, relatives and friends during our stay so this trip felt more than 15 days for us.

Saravana Bhavan.

What do they do ? What is their secret ? Me and Bammu ( Pramodh) are always glued to the table. If saravana Bhavan grants visas for eating they would probably deny the same for me and Bammu.
The guy taking the order halfway through our meal suddenly presented us with 2 finger bowls and We were laughing. The first day was the best with unlimited kattu of the special meal.

Was disappointed with the service at Zimsons watch centre. Could not get the FastTrack watch that I wanted.

Very disappointed with state of roads in Chennai.
CAN or WILL EVER the Family party members learn from neighbouring State Kerala.
Travel on V51 was a highlight during this trip. I got to enjoy the little sleep in the bus. This brought back the memories of those days....

TV Channels most of them to me was confusing with so much scrolling texts.

Anyways, The trip was the first evertime I stayed very healthy but for the last day I picked up a virus.

But whatever happens it is always gives a great feeling to visit India and to see everyone there and get stamping at Saravana Bhavan.

We did not watch any movies this time.. No time is the actual fact.. Bammu and Pachhu Promise next time we will have a good time and i will take you guys for a movie and we will have our own time...

Hope we have more trips like this soon.

closing off the travelobloggater,

2. Chase Excellence and Success will follow.

Paa Appa Father Dad Pitha Paa Paa......

On Friday last week I convinced poorni to buy the audio tracks of paa.. on the way home we listened to the tracks. As always we could enjoy and appreciate the brilliance of Illayaraja. Anyways, on Saturday 5th being our wedding day. I had a very ambitious plan... morning let us visit the doctor, afternoon lunch at a Italian restaurant, evening let us watch PAA this sounded like a plan Friday night and wanted to release it to poorni on Saturday morning first thing with a hope of surprising her. As always, the Boss at home has the final say. All the plans were changed :(. poorni was sick and we decided not to watch the movie and let the weekend go. So, visited doctor, made vathal kozhmbu, eriseari and enjoyed them. Monday Dec 8th as always had a stressful day at work mondays adds to more pressure, reached home and there is poorni with a question.. "Hey can we go to paa. I watched few clips on the web it looks like a movie that you will like (selling the movie to me now...). Then I thought when the baby arrives we are not going to be presented with these kind of opportunities and said "Yes let us go.. but let me make you some pasta for dinner". Finished our dinner and off we go to the theatre... got popcorn, few baked items from coles.. strepsils to ease of poorni's cold.. and as we enter the cinema.. the movie has just began.. i now have no words to describe the movie... Actually, on the weekend we had watched CHENI KUM we seem to enjoy the movie every time that we watch it. I think we might have watched the movie for about over 10 times now. Back to paa now. The movie is one of the best that we have seen after Mozhi. Balki,Bachan and PCSriram make a team complemented by Illayaraja's background score. The scenes in the school where AURO'S (Bachan's name) friends talk to him and share their experiences are fantastic... they will remind most of you of your school days (It certainly did mine). The 2.20 mins that we spent in the theatre was all worth it. I cannot remember in my recent past of me not having thought about work for at least 2 hrs continuously. Thanks to the movie and all in the movie. Further, on the way home we listened to the tracks and now we felt very different to hear them all of them were more meaningful. We had a great time and cannot wait for the DVD to hit the shelves. Highly recommended

Soon to be Paa,

Sine0Theta-SriniVasan.
